I would also add ingenious. The one-of-a-kind prints pictured above are "reinvented imagery" created from the binth inventory of original artwork. You can see some the design elements to the left of the one-of-kind prints I have pictured here. Binth offers a wide array of stunning stationary, home elements, posters, books and limited edition prints. The chicago-based stationary and card studio is the creation of Linnea Gitts, Suzanna Bierwirth and Peter Dunham. Absolutely worth a peek.

the new polaroid

Photos from Lisa Wiseman's iphone. You can read more about her project and view more of these haunting, elegant images in "the new polaroid" section of her website. It's fascinating to me to see what talented people do with new technologies, especially when they transform limitations into compelling new visual frameworks. Maybe one day we'll see this particular palette and it will automatically register as the iphone look and with it will come all the nostalgia and associative feelings that came with our little phones. Hard to imagine iphone nostalgia but I'm sure that day will come.

wouldn't it be cool...

I feel vindicated. I had one of those frustrating conversations with my lovely husband that starts with "wouldn't it be cool" and ends with him looking at me like I grew another head.

So the cool thing I was going on about was designing the best bike streamers EVER. Maybe finding a great source of materials to recycle and sell the crap out of them... quit the day jobs, the whole nine yards. Of course the coolest bike streamers ever would probably have to be one of many super cool ideas to sustain a life of artful pursuits. Jason did not see the potential. Well hanna werning did. She has these super cool ones on her site... plus a zillion other cool things. Like this...

why I love maria carluccio

She gets the kids outside. Tea parties, barn yards, even down in the dirt with the creepy crawlies; Maria's work celebrates everything a kid could love about nature. I found these lovelies over in the main gallery of oopsy daisy.com To me they represent everything I hope my son will discover in his childhood ramblings. 

A while back, I contacted Maria Carluccio for permission to do a post on her work. She was incredibly sweet and accommodating. I just wish I lived in NYC so I could take some her illustration classes. I guess the timing of my post is a little off kilter cause her site is currently under construction. But I'm keeping my eye on it. 

Thinking about kids and the outdoors reminds me I need to get The Last Child in the Woods onto my "to read list" on library thing.
